I was afraid I was gonna kill the poor woman

Image
So I didn't plan on the pictures being at the top but 1 and 2 is the mountain with all the houses,  the other ones are the cool view and street that the church we had our interviews had anyway don’t know why the pics are at the top (at least for me when i'm writing it so you can read the letter first) hopefully the picture of the baptism will at some point in time be on facebook Sup? Alright let's get into it Now, I suppose I should explain myself and the title of the letter. This Saturday we had another baptism. The lady's name is Norma. Now, Norma is a very nice woman, but she is a slightly older and well, um, large individual and my companion told me I would have to do the ordinance. Fine. So the whole weekend (well like one day I guess) I was really worried, like the title says "I would drop n drown her cause I wouldn't be able to pick her up and then I’d go to jail for manslaughter or something.”  So, on Saturday morning we begin the service, and this tim...

Don't know what to call this one

Ah let’s just get into it. It was a bit of a busy week so lets start at the beginning.  Tuesday we had district counsel and to help the native Spanish speakers. Every other district counsel is supposed to be in english and I felt so cool even though the only thing I felt cool about was speaking English better then them, so thinking back on it I'm the stupid one. The Next day was independence day so there was fireworks literally all night. That day though we went back to Tula ‘cause there’s still more work to do. (We might go back once this week too) and we just moved some furniture and stuff and got some boots from members. Also they were putting some white antibacterial powder on all the roads and It looked like snow. Also, there are some insanely nice houses here.  That night we met a drunk American woman who warned us not to get hungover or the place will beat us up. I also got a late birthday present from some Elders in the district. It’s a giant sombrero and I have...

Floods, Earthquakes, and Mud

Image
Well, this was quiet the week.  All of this starts on Monday night as we're leaving the church for the night and it starts pouring rain. I had my umbrella but i still got soaked, but walking home in it was even kinda fun and when we got home we hung up our clothes and that was the end of it.....for our area anyway.  The next day we start seeing videos of flooding farther in the zone in Tula and it’s awful. In the videos literally the only thing above the water was the tops of the houses. But because we had zone conference I kinda forgot about it and stupid me still didn’t realize how bad the flooding was. Zone conference was good but it was just zone conference so nothing mind blowing about it (there are some pictures on facebook if you’re just dying to know more). The Cool thing about it was it was kinda in the rural part of my mission so on the ride you got to see the open parts of Mexico and its so awesome to see all the mountains and fields here. When we got back, it...

Quick note and pictures from zone conference

Quick note from Elder Rivera, My companion said i could reply to this just go tell you that our house is fine but there was a ton of rain yesterday and up north there’s huge flooding. Also we just had a 6.9 earthquake but were fine (didn’t feel that bad to me) anyway just a quick note bye.

Families SUCK

Image
Ha, just kidding families definitely don't suck that was just a clickbait title to get you to read my letter. The only reason I even said that is because this week it was a little frustrating because we lost 3 baptism dates, 2 of which were because people's families told them the church was bad. One dude left because his family told him the catholic church was better, and the other one left because his family told him that the church was gonna make him give them all his money. The last guy left because he decided he hated the Book of Mormon. Anyway, another boring letter from Jacob is here. I suppose I should kinda just tell it all in chronological order. On Tuesday, we had exchanges but it was just with the elders we were with everyday anyway so it wasn't anything real different. My companion was Elder Randall and he's from Montana but his Spanish is really good. He helped me a lot.  Also that afternoon we had kind of a cool experience. Someone rang ...
