I was afraid I was gonna kill the poor woman

So I didn't plan on the pictures being at the top but 1 and 2 is the mountain with all the houses,  the other ones are the cool view and street that the church we had our interviews had anyway don’t know why the pics are at the top (at least for me when i'm writing it so you can read the letter first) hopefully the picture of the baptism will at some point in time be on facebook

Sup? Alright let's get into it

Now, I suppose I should explain myself and the title of the letter. This Saturday we had another baptism. The lady's name is Norma. Now, Norma is a very nice woman, but she is a slightly older and well, um, large individual and my companion told me I would have to do the ordinance. Fine. So the whole weekend (well like one day I guess) I was really worried, like the title says "I would drop n drown her cause I wouldn't be able to pick her up and then I’d go to jail for manslaughter or something.”

So, on Saturday morning we begin the service, and this time it was a bit of a larger crowd than last time, so I plunked out an opening hymn on the piano, said some uninspired words that I’m sure no one understood anyway, and then we started the service. While I was waiting for her to come to the font, I'm just standing in the water, and the font doors are closed so Im literally just telling myself "Do. Not. Drop her." So, she finally comes out and I badly explain where her hands go and stuff, and then I say the prayer and baptize her. Now, I now know why there are witnesses cause I thought I succeeded, but it turns out her legs slipped out from under her and then my worst fear almost came to pass because she was having a very difficult time standing up and she was grabbing my clothes and arms trying to stand up, but she almost took me down with her. Luckily the second time around the ordinance was successful. So I suppose a good but a bit of an anticlimactic ending. Also, ah never mind.

Alright what else happened this week. So because this part of Mexico is now in phase 3 we can go to peoples houses and street contact. So on Tuesday afternoon we had lunch with the Stake President and his family, and I was worried there was gonna be some custom that I was gonna do wrong but it was pretty normal. Although at all the member meals I had this week they always give you soup before the actual meal and it's always the exact same soup and I don’t know what's in it.

Later that day we returned to Tula but this time we did exchanges with the zone leaders. I had my first try at street contacting and it wasn't too bad. I was able to give away some cards and a Book of Mormon and I felt a little better about my Spanish (the catholics can be a bit shady though). Now the only reason I'm talking about my triumphs is because I fell hard the next day, but anyway. After that, we went back to the zone leader's house. They literally live in a mansion. They have three floors and roof access with the coolest view. You can see the Tula ruins from it.

Now Wednesday, as I already mentioned, I don't know why or how, but my Spanish just crashed. I could say NOTHING and I was reverting back to the MTC Spanish in lessons and prayers. We did a bit of street contacting and we scheduled 1 lesson but everyone else declined.

After that we walked really far to a member's house for a meal. It was a really nice dad and son, but again I could say nothing it felt like. After the meal, we walked another mile or so to Walmart to catch a bus, but none came so we had to walk all the way back to the church and the whole way back I was just thinking "So THIS is missionary work huh?" Later that night we had a lesson with a dude on the phone and this dude lived in Tijuana which from where I am is basically Canada. So i have no clue how he ended up in our area book.

The next day, we went to a chapel in our zone for our interviews with president. Him and his wife are super nice, but other than that not very eventful although theres a really cool view and street by that church building.

Later that night, we went to some guy's house for a lesson that we had gotten the previous day during street contacting. My mission president thinks street contacting is a waste of time and I am beginning to agree with the man.  We get to the guys house and we can't go in cause he has a bunch of angry dogs, so we just teach him in his front yard. Now, this guy was polite and all and I wouldn't really call him a basher, but every time we taught him a point, he would basically say "well ok, I actually believe this..." and when I taught him about families with my awful Spanish he told us he believes in a "different kind of family" so that was bit ominous. There was a few things that came to mind when he said that. but boy that was a waste of time.

Nothing extreme happened on Friday, although I tried teaching about tithing and commandments and I kept accidentally saying "ten" instead of "diez"

Saturday after the baptism was extremely slow. We taught like 1 ten minute lesson about prayer and that was it. We played a couple of rounds of Uno (Mexicans play by some weird rules) and then I waited around for updates on the Utes game (how the fetch do we fumble 7 times and somehow win. Washington St. must SUCK)

Sunday we had Norma’s conformation and this time we had a second hour cause there's no church on zoom anymore. Later that day we had a member meal. They lived far far in area and we had to take a bus. The bus was so crowded. Every seat was full and there was hardly any standing room and I'm not gonna lie this bus driver was starting to get my nerves cause he literally kept stopping to let people on even though it seemed literally not scientifically possible to let more people ride.

The members live on a mountain in an apartment building and this mountain is insane. There are hundreds of apartment buildings and then just below there is a huge neighborhood so there are literally THOUSANDS of homes on this one mountain. We had soup (obviously) and really good fried taquitos. After that, we returned to the church (luckily this bus had seats) and it was another slow day.

Well that's all from me today. I got to play basketball this morning which was fun. well bye

Also please retire the number 22 at Utah.
