Covid woez

Image
Well it caught up to me, I hadn't ever gotten Covid before, but now, 2 years after the beginning of this dang thing it's finally got me. It's not too bad right now, just a sore throat, headache, congestion and some chills, it's Just we have to be quarantined in the house again . My companion got it first I think but I'm not too sure. Anyway, I’ll be fine, its Just its P-day and we have to spend all day in the dang house... Anyway enough whining on my part, let’s get into it. Tuesday wasn’t that exciting at all, the only things I remember was that I read the book of Abraham (I don’t even know why I remember that) and we taught Elizabeth. She’s so freaking close baptism, she’s reading the scriptures, going to church, and praying. She also told us that she got an answer that she should be baptized and she’s still hesitant about it. I have no idea why. We'll see but man she’s close. Wednesday I learned to listen to the dang impressions of the Spirit, even if they’re...

A boring, uninspired letter

Yeah this week was not the most exciting on any front but tradition holds I should nevertheless force myself to type something. Anyway this week started off with a bang. At the baptism on Saturday (ya know the one where a woman nearly died) it turns out that someone there was sick. We were informed monday night we were exposed to a sick person and told the mission presidents wife. Right after we informed her, we got a message from the sick people saying they got covid tests and everything was negative but good old Hermana Severson (mp wife) told us we still had to quarantine for two days. This brings us to Tuesday. I sluggishly got up to exercise in the coldest house this side of the Rio Grande knowing we’d be stuck in it the next 48 hours with our only view being a brick wall (literally thats the only view from any of the windows). I’m sorry to sound so pessimistic but this is how I felt in the moment. We did some virtual district council and then we just called people. Literally for ...

Hectic and Kinda Weird Week

Image
Lets see. Let’s begin, as usual on Tuesday. I remember the house being COLD when I woke up and went downstairs, I realized one of us sad freaking missionaries had left the front door open all night so yeah. Anyway, later that day we walked to go teach a less active guy. He’s named Axel. He’s super nice but I guess he’s had some weed problems so naturally, I wanted to teach him the Word of Wisdom. So I opened up good ole’ D&C 89, explained some context, and read the classic verses 18-21. No big deal right? Those verses are words DIRECTLY from the mouth of God, AND they explain exactly what blessings you’ll receive if you live the commandment. Pero bueno. After the lesson as we were walking back to the church, me and my companion had an um, discussion cause apparently "D&C 89 isn’t the really that good to use in explaining the Word of Wisdom". I’m sorry I don’t care what anyone says that is literally the Best way to teach that commandment. I know there’s some obscure ve...

Unpurified Water

Image
Alright, I'm not gonna lie, the week didn't start out fantastic. On Monday, we had a district activity and we played some sports and after, I drank some unpurified water by accident. After we went and ate at Burger King and you can already tell where this is all going. On Tuesday I got up and I felt pretty dang bad in the stomach and I already knew it was because of the water and/or Burger king I ate the day prior. We walked a ton that day too. On one of our walks I saw a dude in a Utes shirt and I really wanted to talk to him but we were in a hurry to get to the good ol’ district council and all that. I was fine during that but after that my stomach just kept on feeling off. After the district meeting we could not find a freaking combi which are literally EVERYWHERE until you need one. We walked a few miles and I was just feeling miserable with my decision to drink water and eat a whopper the day prior. We got to the house but we left almost right away so that we could go eat ...

I'm scared of dogs

Yes. I will not lie, the dogs in this new area are huge and mean, and I'm not kidding every time I walk past a dog I get nervous cause they start barking and following you. The other day we were walking and this huge Dalmatian starts charging at me and for half a second I was ready to fight to the death and I backed up into the road and nearly got killed by a combi. Luckily the dog was a coward and preferred just to bark but I literally have never wanted to fight an animal so much in my life. Anyway. Hello. As I commented the last week, here I am in a new area. It's called Melchor Ocampo. Let me describe it a little bit. It's a lot older and has a lot more variety than my last area. It has deep catholic roots and there's some really old cool churches. This presents a problem. It means that the people here are kinda mean. We knock a lot of doors and contact a lot in the street and sometimes I really have to hold my tongue. Anyway let's talk about the week. I arrived ...
