Drunk men with knives

Image
Well it was only one drunk man with one knife but ill get into that (not that impressive of a story really) Hi.  This week started out extremely slow. On Tuesday we had district counsel as usual and really the only thing I remember from it is getting a bad case of laughter while singing the hymn cause we are BAD singers. We had a good lunch with a member an older couple and they were super nice. After words we went to visit Maria and Santiago. They live in the Papelería and we kind of started helping them get ready to go to the judge and get married. They are so nice and they always give us SO much red cola when we're there (red cola is the off brand Coke everyone drinks here. And yes its just called "red cola" not "cola rojo" or whatever.) After we left we just called random people the rest of the day until nighttime when we got a call from Santiago Saying she fell and shattered her arm and the bone came out. This poor woman has so many problems and now This? ...

Letter

Image
Creative title eh? Well hi. I realize as I start my letters I always forget what happened and I have to look at my journal to remember and my journal is just me ranting about stuff. But anyway.  I'm not gonna lie this week was a bit frustrating at times and this might be another whiny Jacob letter so feel free to skip this one. On Tuesday we had zone conference. The problem with having more time in the area than my companion is that I'm supposed to know how to get to all these places so I had to get us on a bus and stuff and we were the last ones to zone conference which was somewhat awkward. The lunch part is fun cause it's really easy to connect with all the new elders cause they're all having the same experience as me.  After a very long conference we went to Quma. We spent a ton of time is Quma this week and it drained our pockets pretty quickly. We taught some good lessons but it's a lot of walking and we were with a member who told us we really need to be ca...

Adventures in Quma

Image
Now, I say the word "adventures" but the title really should be "walking in Quma".  All of this happened on Sunday so I'm gonna start backwards. So on Sunday I wake up to the news of Utah dismantling USC in the coliseum and this was the first time this football season I was EXTREMELY jealous to not have seen the game (or the Cam Rising flea flicker) because you don't see utah beat USC on the road too often (in fact I think you have to go back to the times of Moses to find the last win) so that news was pretty great. Afterwards, we went to church and it was testimony meeting and my companion bore his testimony and I didn't and felt really awkward, stupid me was just too scared or something. We had a few people show up at church— an older couple named Maria and Santiago. They're super nice. They both accepted baptism dates even Santiago who had a ton of questions. After church, they invite us to their house. They live in this tiny Papelería. Maria made...

Fetching Legendary

Image
Well the explanation for the title is first, the word "fetching" is the most common word in the mission field, and wether I like it or not, it has become a part of my vocabulary. The thing that was legendary was conference. There was no broadcast for the ward so since we were just watching with a few missionaries, I was able to watch all of it in english. Now don't worry, I'm not about to get all spiritual on you, but the talks were so good. Also according to President Nielson, freaking buckle up. If you're reading my letter and you haven't watched conference, stop reading right now and go watch it because I promise you’ll get more out of one talk then you ever will from my dumb ol' letters.  Alright. Hello everyone. I don't have a ton of time because we have transfers later so rejoice you don't have to read a long letter today. I'm getting a new companion but I'm staying in the area. My current companion is going home, and let me tell you ...
