Letter

 Creative title eh?

Well hi. I realize as I start my letters I always forget what happened and I have to look at my journal to remember and my journal is just me ranting about stuff. But anyway.

I'm not gonna lie this week was a bit frustrating at times and this might be another whiny Jacob letter so feel free to skip this one.

On Tuesday we had zone conference. The problem with having more time in the area than my companion is that I'm supposed to know how to get to all these places so I had to get us on a bus and stuff and we were the last ones to zone conference which was somewhat awkward. The lunch part is fun cause it's really easy to connect with all the new elders cause they're all having the same experience as me.

After a very long conference we went to Quma. We spent a ton of time is Quma this week and it drained our pockets pretty quickly. We taught some good lessons but it's a lot of walking and we were with a member who told us we really need to be careful cause Quma is very dangerous at night. the Problem with that is that I feel like were ALWAYS in Quma at night and I tell my companion its not a good idea but we keep going back at night so he must like being in danger or something.

Wednesday we had a family home evening in guess where? Yep Quma. We were really late cause we were lost and wandering around random neighborhoods. The family was super nice. They’re inactive but I've noticed that the inactives and the people we're teaching are nicer and more willing to help us out then the active members. Afterwards we had to hurry home cause it was late but luckily the guy we just had the lesson with had a car and took us home. Now on the car ride home, I realized I didn’t have the Keys and that was a HUGE problem cause without those we couldn’t get onto our street much less the house. I didn’t say anything during the car ride home and I was gonna wait to tell my companion until he dropped us off and a billion questions were going  through my mind about where we were gonna sleep and how the fetch we were gonna get a replacement to all the Keys we had. Now it turns out my companion had the Keys the whole time so I indeed felt stupid. When we got home we had some rice milk to drink from the family home evening, and I didn’t really want to finish mine so I dumped it in the sin. And how come no one told me how much freaking rice there is in rice milk? Cause it clogged the sink good, and I'm no plumber so I had no clue how to fix it so I'm just shoving hangers and forks down the drain and none of that was working so I just started unscrewing things on the bottom of the sink. The good thing is is that it worked and we got the drain unclogged. The bad thing is is that I was not prepared for the rancid rotten food smell and chunks. And oh my was it awful. I was gagging so much the tears started to flow. So yeah that was Wednesday. Oh also we were again told how dangerous Quma was by someone else and still my companion doesn't realize we shouldn't be there late at night.

Thursday was uneventful (I think, I don't  really remember cause I didn't write that much my journal that day but it was my 3 month mark.)

Friday was a bit slow too. We were walking around the neighborhood a lot looking for a place to take a picture for a Facebook post. After that, we walked back to the church and we literally saw a dog eating another dead dog. Before my mission I always wanted a dog, but now I'm not so sure cause that was disgusting. Also theres a dog we see all the time who face has halfway fallen off. After all that we went to an investigators house. It's her and her son (Leonor and Raul) there really nice but we were at their house for 2 hours. Also, when we got there the other elders called us Saying someone needed to get into the church and they didn't have keys so we sprinted back to the church during the middle of a lesson which was somewhat annoying.

Saturday I woke up homesick, I have no idea why, sometimes those days just happen. We spent all day in Quma again. We only taught a few lessons but Quma’s so huge and it takes a very long time to walk places. And literally after that day it was a grand total of 5 different people in 5 different places who told us to say away from Quma at night and I even tell my companion but seriously he loves it or something. We actually taught some great lessons though in Quma. Thats the thing. Sometimes it's annoying to go, but theres some fantastic people there. Also we had a bit of an interesting experience. We were walking and some guy stopped us. I couldn't tell if he was drunk or not (he probably was cause he had a bucket of empty bottles) but he told us he was a member who had been inactive for 7 years. He had a super fancy necklace on and a ton of tattoos. But He was nice and he literally shook our hands like 10 times during our two minute conversation. He then asked if he could say a prayers with us in the middle of the street. His prayer was actually pretty good and I totally tell he was at least at one point a member. Another quick note from that day. We have some fantastic people we’re teaching in Quma but they Also have a lot of problems. One family literally has NO money to get to church, and another guy has only 1 leg and a bunch of other health problems and literally cant ride the bus. We really want them to come to church, but literally no member is willing to help them get there which is annoying. Also that night we were in Quma LATE again and instead of waiting 2 extra minutes for a bus my companion called a taxi. Taxis are SUPER expensive but at least this would take us right to our house cause the bus usually drops us off a mileish from home right? Nope. For literally no reason at all my companion told the taxi driver to drop us off in the same spot the bus would. The bus costs 18 pesos for both of us to ride and the taxi literally cost 170 fetching pesos for a five minute ride o the same exact spot the bus would’ve take us. I think its safe to say I wasn't necessarily pleased. The taxi driver also told us how  dangerous Quma is which brought the grande total to 5 different people telling us that.

Sunday I was very pleased when I woke up and saw the score of the Utes game (although a bit jealous of my family who goes to all the games now that I'm not home) and the picture of Britain covey flexing which was so awesome. When we got to church the member who said he was gonna pick up one of the families in Quma decided just not to pick them up and so they couldn't come to church

During ward counsel later, we told the members that theres a lot of problems in Quma with people who want to come to church and we were pretty much just told that if these people really wanted to come to church the should be able to make the sacrifice to Pay for a bus ride cause as members of the church we need to be making sacrifices. I found that somewhat ironic cause they weren't even thinking of making the "sacrifice" of driving ten or less minutes to Quma to pick a few people up. Also again we have one guy with 1 leg who literally cant ride the bus. After that, we went to the house of Maria and Santiago. They’re so so nice and they have a HUGE problem. They don't have enough money to pay the rent and they might have to leave this thursday and I really don't want that go happen to them. Also they have to get married before they get baptized and they don't have enough money so I really hope a miracle happens. The only problem with the lesson is the my companion decided to teach them for 3 HOURS. I don't know if theres ever a good reason to teach for that long and because of that we missed a member meal which doesn't feel like the most polite thing to do. After we finally left, the member came to the church with our food which was so nice of them. The food was chicken in mole. Now I've had some good mole (for example mole verde) but this mole had like chocolate or something in it and it did not mix well with the chicken. The worst part is is that it killed my stomach just as I had finally recovered from "the great bowel fiasco" of the week before. But anyway thats my week. I didn't take any pictures this week so ill just include some random ones from last week.
