I thought he was dead
Hi,
This was one of those slower weeks I'm sad to say.
Tuesday was district conference and all that. We had some lessons planned for the night and so we walked to this one guys house for a lesson with a member and he wasn't there and that was the second time that this is happened with this guy so that wasn't great. Afterwards we went to teach Silvestre and he invited the lady he lives with to listen so that was good BUT we found out he has to get divorced and married again.
Wednesday we visited good old Norma. She showed us randomly a ton of pictures of central México city and I want to go sooo bad. Norma was also super excited cause someone had asked her what church she went to and she told them and she was so excited she had shared the gospel. I'll miss Norma when I leave.
Thursday was Thanksgiving and all that so I was expecting to be feeling all sad, but luckily I didn't have time to think about that cause we were super busy. We went to Quma and we taught some less actives, some recent converts, and also (1 of 2) guys with no leg. After we returned, and on the shortcut we like to take to get back to the church, theres sometimes dogs who like to chase us so we just picked up some rocks and started flinging them at the dogs and those cowards ran away right away. Also cause it was Thanksgiving I was able to talk to my family for 30 minutes.
Friday we had a baptism. The problem with that is we had been in Quma so we had to rush back to the church and we were late to fill the font. The problems began there. It literally took me FOREVER to figure out how to turn the boiler on and I was sweating and getting my suit all dirty. After I turned on the font and didn't realize right away the drain for the font which is outside, was still running. The drain was also a huge problem cause it's outside in a hole thing. I cant explain it very well but basically you cant reach the drain by hand you have to have a special tool to reach in and turn it off but the tool was in a small shed outside and we don't have the Keys. After literally over 1 hour I decided to stick a volleyball net pole that was randomly outside, down the drain and just hit the switch for the water until it Turned and it actually worked so we could fill the font. Now the problem was that all the hot water had drained out of the building and almost all the water period so the font wasn't filled at all close to normal before the church ran out of water. We were able to have the baptism. She's named Marcela. She's really nice and her husbands already a member of the church. Luckily she's small so the ordinance with the little water in the font wasn't a super huge problem. This might sound rude, but literally if she was another norma, we would not have been able to have the baptism. like I mentioned the water was freezing and My dream is to just feel hot water before the end of my mission.
Saturday we had a bunch of lessons planned and they all fell through so that wasn't great. We went to a members house to eat and we ate tortillas that were drenched in beans and crumbled cheese. Guacamole and crema and literally it was one of the best meals I've eaten in México. I always forget the names of these foods but it was good. Also on Saturday still had 0 water and I was really scared the water would still be missing on Sunday and the bishop would just decide to make a public example of us.
That wasn't the case. There still wasn't ant water in the church (and probably not today either) but luckily the bishop didn't get after us. Some random youth tried to but he had literally no idea what he was talking about so it was fine. Afterwards we went to pick up José Vega to bring him to church. (one leg man number 2) he had been trying out some new crutches and He's not very good on them so we were late to the meeting and right as we walked In they were about to do the conformation of Marcela so I literally had to sprint to the stand and I was SO grateful I just so happened to have my notes on how to do the prayer and stuff in my pocket.
After church though something not great happened. A member was walking José Vega out on his crutches and on the stairs outside, José fell, and hit his head. Someone ran in to alert us what had just happened and when we got outside we saw him just lying there unconscious on the concrete and LITERALLY for about 3 seconds I thought he was dead but luckily his hand started moving, and I members a nurse and she basically revived him. He had a bit of a nasty scrape on his head but it could have been a lot worse. We texted him later that evening and he seemed fine so thats good. Afterwards we went to Quma to eat with some members. For desert we had these huge ice cream cones and ice cream isn't the most common thing in México and just to eat it again was just fantastic. Anyway thats my boring letter see ya.
