December in Mexico

 Hi

Lets see. Tuesday we had district council like normal, but we have to do a freaking skit in front of the whole mission on Wednesday and I’d literally rather eat a dog taco. After all that we went to teach Jose Vega (the one legged guy who fell) and He’s super great and He’s starting to remember what we teach. The first few weeks with him literally we would teach about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon twice during one lesson and he wouldn’t remember any of it. We're hoping to baptize him this week, I just have no clue how to do it. We will probably need like 2 people in the font or something. After that lesson we started our long trek into Quma. On the way we ran into some dude to contact but he didn’t have interest and he proceeded to tell us we were gonna die cause we had the vaccine and that we probably didn't believe in Jesus. Later we went to go teach an 11 year old who's the kid of some members but he’s not baptized and it was like teaching a rock. He refused to answer any questions or do anything we asked him. Later that night Alejandro Torres came to the church. I’ve mentioned him before but I’ll describe him again. He’s a very skinny, dirty man who is a bit crazy or high or something. He’s quite fun actually and he understands nothing or at least refuses to understand nothing and then tells us he will never leave the catholic church for ours. During the lesson we were trying to teach him the word of wisdom and at first it was kinda fun cause of how weird this guy is and you never know what crazy idea he’s gonna come up with next. By the end of the lesson though I was feeling like it had gone on too long and I just ended the lesson and decided there was no point in teaching that guy again even though part of me might miss him.

Wednesday we got up bright and early and basically went right to Quma to teach a less active family. They have little kids and I had planned a lesson with the articles of faith with them but it was only the dad home so it was pretty awkward but oh well. We walked to Jose Vega’s house after and taught him (we’ve been trying to teach him every day) and after we ate with the other one legged Jose. We had emoladas (I don't know how to spell it) which are literally legendary. Later we returned to the church and we didn’t have much to do so I decided we were gonna go street contacting. The problem with that is when it's starting to get dark people think the only reason a large missionary would approach them in the evening is to jump them or something, so we didn’t have much success. I literally approached some lady and said "buenas noches" and she ran away.

Thursday we had to go to Quma again to eat but it was so awkward. There's the rule that says we can't enter a house when an adult male is not present or whatever and so my comp was insisting we eat outside but in Quma there is literally 0 space to eat outside so the sister literally told us to go inside and eat and she and her kids would literally just stand outside and wait while we ate. It was pretty hot outside too during the day even though it's December it's still like in the 80s sometimes. We went inside and I just felt so awkward and so I literally just told the lady to come in with her kids so they wouldn't have to literally stand outside for 30 minutes waiting for us to eat alone in their house.

Friday we did a few lessons on the phone and then I went out and bought some ice cream cause I wanted some. (Why else would I) also a dang black pen exploded in the pocket of my suit pants and now there is a very large unremovable black stain on them. I wasnt pleased with that. that night was the other wards Christmas party and we had to help the other elders sing. Let me get one thing clear we can't sing and it was really awkward doing it in front of like 120 people and so of course I started laughing a little bit but luckily I composed myself enough to stop it by the 2nd and 3rd verses of silent night. Plus, no one in that ward knows me. They do have some interesting characters though. They have one lady who literally takes pictures of everything she or her family does. Before church, in church, after church, their ward had a guy dressed up as Santa for the kids and she took a bunch of pictures with him, they have a guy who's been active for 30 years with 3 kids serving missions but he refuses to get baptized. They also have a guy who I actually talked to and is super nice  but apparently someone murdered his brother and he's been wanting to shoot the guy who did it and stuff. So yeah. ponche is also super huge at Christmas time. It's like a hot cider with a ton of fruit in it. It's pretty good but the way people talk about it, they basically tell you you'll never try anything close to the level of ponche. For me I'd be just as fine drinking a glass of juice or something.

The next day was our wards Christmas party and the other elders wanted to come to ours so they told the guy in the bishopric that we'd sing again. I wasn’t necessarily pleased with having to sing again but luckily this time I didn't laugh. The food was really good and I liked the ponche a lot more this time. They put a little stick of sugar cane in it to chew on and it was so good. Afterwards we went outside to play soccer and Imo no good at it so I was basically just charging at people hoping they’d move out of the way the whole time. I also ripped a hole in my pants at the knee so literally i ruined 2 pairs of pants this week.

Sunday we went with a member to Quma to pick up the one legged Joses and the sister that Jose Luis lives with. It proved quite difficult as we had to fit a wheel chair and a walker in the car with 6 people and 5 seats. My companion had to sit on my freaking lap so that wasn’t fantastic in my opinion. We got to church and hour late and missed Sacrament meeting. Jose Vega had gotten a new metal leg so we were helping him walk in, but he fell twice but luckily he didn't hit his head. He almost fell a third time but we caught him so we ended up just carrying him in. After church we went to Quma to eat and the family we ate with didn’t have time to cook so they bought little chasers and kfc. It literally demolished my stomach and I could barely even walk after as we went to see Jose Vega who had left his phone at the church. Ive literally lived on the toilet ever since. Anyway that was too much information and I'll close it here. Bye.
