Adiós Chump
Hello. Well I suppose I should start writing this dang thing. Its gonna be a short one I'm afraid. Not a ton happened and we've got to go to the mission offices for transfers. (my comps leaving that's why there's that title)
The first half of the week was not the best. I mentioned last week, on Saturday night, I got hit by a bus with a school load of children (no it was covid but it hit me hard). So as I mentioned Sunday, Monday (P-day sadly enough) was quarantine. Tuesday and Wednesday too. I don't recommend getting sick cause that sore throat killed me. Anyway. Tuesday we only taught two lessons. One was with Elizabeth, and she is just a very strange woman. We called her when she was sitting in a very crowded combi and she wanted us to teach her anyway. So she was on speaker phone and just listening and talking for everyone on the combi to hear. We had her read some scriptures and one of the ones she read was about the "wailing and gnashing of teeth" and all of that (we were talking about the Spirit World) and I'm sure she made some fellow riders a bit uncomfortable with it, but who cares, it was just kinda funny she was taking a lesson from us in a crowded combi where people are so smashed together you can hardly move your arms. The other one was with this guy Victor, he was a reference from some other missionaries and this guys insane. He literally loves learning more and he loves the book of mormon he says he can picture all the scenes when he closes his eyes. He's really busy on Sundays though. He works for some super famous Mexican singer. I have no clue who it is and already forgot the name, But my companion on the other hand was acting like this guy victor we were taking to WAS this famous dude and was freaking out and after the call was acting like we had to find a friend for him in the ward, but only if the member was rich and all that. But Victor is a great guy and I like teaching him.
Wednesday, we were still in quarantine. Not much to say about that. We taught three lessons. Elizabeth, that Victor guy, and this girl named Nidia. Nidia is taking our lessons by video-call but her parents literally will not let her leave the house ever, for any reason at all and they hate our church so I have no clue how we'll be able to progress with her.
Thursday we finally got to leave. I felt better and we got approval from the mission. I was so relieved cause my only view since Saturday night was that sad brick wall we have (I’ll include a picture). That day we visited this recent convert and her brother. This recent convert has almost a year in the church and I actually think I've mentioned her before but I literally think she's just a Catholic with a Book of Mormon. She doesn't go to church and she's got a picture of the pope on the wall and a bunch of Virgin Mary decor. Plus we were teaching her brother how to pray and she suggested that her brother could "always do a Padre Nuestro" (the equivalent of the Lords prayer) her brother is a very sick man. He's in bed hooked up to an oxygen tank and I felt so useless in that lesson. Trying to talk and relate with him was nearly impossible. He couldn't see us cause his sight is awful and his hearing too. We were literally yelling to teach the lesson and he heard almost none of it. I felt really, like is said, useless. We gave him a blessing and left.
Friday well, I learned I am a patient person. I’m not good at much but I suppose I have that. It’s cause we had to go get the signature from the lady we baptized (we still didn’t have it cause were just such fantastic missionaries) and so we were walking to her house and I had no clue where she lived but My companion said he did. So were walking a bunch and we’ve been walking for a while and uphill and it soon came apparent, my companion (of me obviously) had no clue where we were. So he pulled up Google maps and we started following it. Every two seconds I guess he read the map wrong and we had to turn around or make a short cut or change what street we were on. I didn't say a word through any of it and after a while it started to get quite comical cause I’ve never seen anyone with so much trouble using Google maps. We finally got to the house and it turns out my comp went to her COUSINS house and that we weren't even close to the lady's actual house. So we finally got her address and took the 30 minute Journey over there but man we literally wasted like 2 hours making u turns and shortcuts, so that was fun. We later went to teach some other recent converts. They're nice but they don't want to come to church anymore cause they got offended by some members. I want to send them elder Oaks' most recent general conference talk cause that could beat them into shape.
Saturday we went to Elizabeths house and I honestly thought she was ready to get baptized but now I’m not so sure. We recently had retaught the restoration again, but we decided to teach some parts again. The problem was that for some reason she remembered NOTHING. It was like teaching a two legged woman version of José Vega. She didn’t remember what a prophet was, or revelation, or priesthood and she didn’t even recognize the name "José Smith" it was insane so I guess well just have to keep reviewing things with her. *sigh*
Sunday *checks watch* yesterday was good. We had stake conference and it was great. Some guy from the Temple presidency spoke and an Area 70. Also my Mission President and his wife spoke and stuff. But the talks by the temple guy and especially the area 70 were fantastic. The 70s guy was named Raul Tapia and I cant remember the name of the temple dude but those type of guys are just on another level. Afterwards, we taught a lesson. Some guy named Juan José and his family came to the church. We were teaching them in the foyer for some reason and so during the lesson the area 70 dude walks out and welcomes the people we were teaching and then put his hand on my shoulder I know its just an Area 70 but man someone of that caliber with their hand on your shoulder while your just trying to teach is a bit nerve-racking. Later that day we got transfer news. My new companion is named elder Gonzales. There’s literally 5 different Elder Gonzales' but I think this ones pretty cool. My comp is going to my first area. Im just glad to have more of fresh start. Theres some missionary who came in with me he's about to start his 5th transfer in his first area. That means by the time he leaves he'll have at least 8 months. But anyway I've got to go clean or when we have house inspections we will be executed at dawn.
Sorry for all my dang typos. It wants to correct everything I write into Spanish or into some word that doesn’t even exist.
