Sup
So lets see. On Tuesday for Lunch, we didn't have a member to give us food, so we decided to make some nachos. The night previous a member had given us a huge block of cheese and we needed to do something with it. The cheese was freaking good too. Later we decided to call Angelina. She's the lady who was telling us all the bad stuff was happening in her house. Like a super awful smell at all times. This lady is super depressed. She Works construction even though she's in her 60s and she's always super tired and scared and her family has completely abandoned her. We went to her house and she's just in a bad state. She didn't even want to live or anything anymore. We gave her a blessing and one to her house and she felt better afterwards. The problem is that every time we give her blessings, she says the stuff still happens right after we leave. We decided that this whole situation was too big for just us, so we're gonna have to enlist the whole ward to help us with her.
Wednesday we went to go teach this lady wed never met before who's completely inactive in the church, but she is a member. We found her in a kind of crazy way. Her husband who's not a member was writing us on facebook. We got his Phone number and were just talking to him for a sec on the phone. His wife just so happened to hear it in the background, and rushed over to talk to us. It turns out she had been wanting to get into contact with us for a while but didn't know how, so luckily she overheard her husband talking on the phone. We went to her house (Her name’s Isabel by the way) Its one of those houses thats really run down and completely made of concrete. They have a lot of money problems and she wants help to find a ew place to live. Ive realized how much us missionaries have to rely on the ward to help us sometimes with people, cause stuff like that is a bit out of our area of what we can do. She was super scared to return to church cause she was afraid people were gonna judge her. We assured her that wasn't the case and we told her we were gonna talk to the leaders in the ward about her situation. Later we went to go eat with a recent convert named Carmen. She got baptized about 9 months ago but hasn't really come to church since. Her brother recently died of Covid, 2 of her three sons have died of alcoholism in the past few years and her husband died too. After we ate we had a nice lesson with her. We mostly just listened to what she had to say. She's afraid something will happen to her other son cause he's hooked on alcohol too. At the end of the lesson we mentioned that there was a temple visitors center trip next Sunday and she got super excited to go and take her son, so that'll be cool. After all that we went to go visit good old blind Jesús. He's a great guy but he is hard to follow. He loves to talk and when we bring up a gospel topic he brings the conversation in the most random directions. He's a great guy though. We want to find him a Book of Mormon in Braille, but in Spanish they don't seem to exist.
Thursday was zone conference. The best part of zone conference is when they combine two zones and you get to see al the other missionaries you havent seen in a while. The conference was good, its Just sooo long and afterwards you don't feel like doing anything, but we had to go to Elizabeths house to give her the baptism interview. We walked into her house (and yes I feel bad for this) and I think she was cooking some food for the street dogs she always feeds, and when the smell hit my nose, I literally gagged like 3 consecutive times and tears literally came out of my eyes. I felt bad, but luckily she didn't notice. She passed the interview so that was good too.
I'm starting to realize that this is another boring one
Anyways. Friday. In the morning we went back to Carmen's house to teach her. She likes to talk a lot, and she was telling us about the war thats happening and all the rumors. And literally that was the first time hearing about it for us. As missionaries you don't get any news. As she was telling us all that, I thought of president Nelson talk in October where he basically just told us "buckle up". Later we met with some less actives. One was the Mother and daughter Who don't want to come back to church. It was a good lesson, its just that they don't come to church after our lessons. Later we went to the house of the family who gave us a large Block of cheese. This time they gave us a very large box of American cheese, and I have no clue what to do with it. They also gave us some pizza.
So Saturday the big event was Elizabeths baptism. I was all nervous, cause the last time I had a baptism the water was freezing and the lady nearly was killed choking on water. We made sure we had plenty of time to fill the font and do all the preparation, but man it can get annoying. It took us forever to clean the font, cause someone Who got baptized last must have had long hair and man, I hate long hair. It literally is so difficult to mop up and it gets stuck on every surface. Later the boiler was having problems, but we thought we had hot water because we turned it on an lo and behold the water was hot, BUT, what we didn't know is that the water faucet only stays hot for about 4 seconds and then gets cold again. So we left it, came back to check the font later and realized it was freezing, so we drained it, refilled it, just to have the same problems with cold water. I was a bit frustrated I'm not gonna lie cause I just wanted ONE baptism on my mission with hot water, but alas I had to give up trying to get hot water and accept my fate. The baptism was actually good though. Elizabeth liked it, and it didn't seem like the cold water bothered her TOO much. We had a lot of help from some members too so that was good.
Sunday. Sunday we went to church and we confirmed Elizabeth. Also we had some lady we’d been teaching from Facebook named Artemisa. It was the first time meeting her in person, and we could tell something was wrong. After sacrament meeting, she couldn't stand cause she had a strong pain in her ribs. We asked for some help from some members to help give her a blessing. One of the guys was the old bishop so he knows how to talk to people, and after talking to her he said he was afraid she has an abusive boyfriend and maybe has an addiction of some kind. So we're gonna have to see about that. Later we were walking to go eat, and we passed some random guy and he stopped us and handed me a bill of money and basically said "hey elders, buy some tacos!" and pretty much walked away. Id never seen the guy before. I looked down and he'd give me a 500. I was shocked cause people don't go out giving bills of 500 in the street too often. We can eat pretty good with that money. Anyway I'm bored of writing and your bored of reading. Bye
