Back again

I'm back again.

Tuesday was hot. We have to walk to district council in our suits and it is hard. Later we ate with a super nice lady in our ward. She made enfrijoladas which are super good. She always gives us so much food that after we can't even walk. The only problem about her house is that her roof is made of some sun absorbent material a it's literally hotter inside than outside. It can kill ya. Tuesday was mother's day in Mexico (don't know why) so I was able to call my family. Later we felt that we should visit some inactive lady and give her a blessing so we did. She said she had been wanting a blessing lately. She was pretty dang sick.

On Wednesday morning early, we went to San Rafael early to go visit some people. We went to see Jose Antonio. He's super nice. He has some sort of problem in his body a sickness or something so he has to walk with two canes now. Apparently before he got all sick he was a police officer and he was really corrupt and mean and his wife chased him out of the house. Since he's been sick and recovered a little bit he's become a super nice guy who talks to literally everyone. After we visited some recent convert who wasn't home and so we visited another inactive woman  who wanted a blessing too. Later we went to go eat with a family and she made us homemade flour tortillas which is definitely not common here. The economy practically runs on corn tortillas. The flour tortillas were super good and she made us beans and eggs and salsa to put in them. After we went to see Magaly, she's getting ready for a baptism on Saturday. We were scared going in that she wouldn't have read the book of Mormon so we braced ourselves but she had actually started reading it. We decided to read a chapter with her for the lesson. I hadn't put that into practice but it works pretty well for a lesson I suppose. We decided to visit one more inactive family. We knocked and almost always inactives (even ones who haven't come to church in who knows how long) let you in for a lesson. We taught them a lesson real quick and left. We then taught some dude named Richard over the phone the plan of salvation.

Thursday. Wasn't an extremely eventful (nor productive, I'm afraid) day. We visited some inactives. As we’ve started this "visit all 1000 inactives" project we've seen that half of the inacitves are nicer, more genuine, and have more potential than half of the members who go every week. (I think it's cause half the active members are actively involved in a large pyramid scheme fraud thing that's going around in the stake) we later went to the church and our bishop wanted to talk to us. He told us that Josefina, the lady were getting ready for a baptism soon, is already a member and was baptized in another ward close by in 2019. He found some information that matches up exactly with hers. Josefina keeps denying she was baptized and she's a pretty good actor. We had a lesson with her on Saturday and if she is lying she's doing it well. So who knows. It's gonna be difficult once here baptism gets closer.

Friday we had a bunch of lessons. It was tough but at the end of the day I got a cool surprise. We had been talking to two older ladies in the ward and they wanted to take us to see a bunch of inactives who live by them. (These woman both being on the brink of inactivity). We visited one family. Somewhat crazy you could say but they were nice. Especially the old guy who lived there. The only annoying thing was is that they were talking so much the whole time leaving no room for us to talk, then they turned to us and asked us why we were so quiet and didn't say anything. They then continued to talk leaving us without an opportunity to say anything. That visit took all morning and so after it was time eat. We went to eat with this lady who's really nice. Her husband's nice too. He's not a member. He's a taxi driver. He talks a TON so we learn about all the ins and outs of being a taxi conductor (I often zone out when he's speaking though) but I think it would be hard to be a member and a taxi driver (especially by night in Mexico city). Later we met another lady in our ward and she took us to visit every single inactive she knew. There was a ton. A lot didn't open the door, one guy said through the door that he wasn't the guy we were looking for (it indeed was him he just didn't feel obliged to open the door) another old lady we saw had a boyfriend their so we taught him a quick lesson, some lady he used to come to church for years over 20 years ago but never got baptized because apparently she's terrified of water, a lady who's actually an active member but she moved her member registries to a different ward cause she didn't like this one, a guy name Jaun Carlos who was actually pretty cool, and to finish some lady who cheated on her husband and wanted us to come to her house to tell her son to come to our ward instead of going to his dad's ward every Sunday. I just wanted to tell her that she literally can't get after her son for going to church or expect him to go to our ward when she doesn't go herself. After a long day of that we were walking back home and we got a call. In the ward that shares the church building with ours there's thus super cool guy named Hermano Wong. (He has like Chinese ancestors or something). He is honestly one of the nicest members I've ever met. He often goes to visit Pachuca, I once commented to him that I have a cousin serving a mission there and if he ever found an Elder Huemann, he should give me a call. Hermano Wong literally remembered that name even though I told him like a month ago and somehow when he was on Pachuca on Friday he was able to find my cousins phone number. So Hermano Wong did a group call with us and I was able to talk to my cousin Jordan for a few minutes. It was super cool and completely unexpected.

Saturday we had a lesson in the morning with a guy named Eduardo. We went to his house and it was our first time meeting him in person. He's a super cool guy but he's a police officer by night and so he's really not home to much. We gave him a Book of Mormon and all that and he said we could call him during the week. We went to Magalys house after and read some more of the Book of Mormon. We had to be in the church for a while because the members were gonna bring our food to us there. Also the bishopric asked us to open the church cause the single adults (but the old people like 30+) were gonna have a party so we had to open the door and help set up a party for a bunch of 65 year old women.

Sunday we had ward council in the morning. It's always been a joke. No one listens to us and the bishop is annoying and somewhat rude. After we had Sacrament meeting and Enrique, Miriam, Magaly and unexpectedly Alvaro and his wife showed up. Alvaro is a super nice guy  but whenever we've talked to him in the past he's always been really eager in discussing and talking about the Bible but really nothing else. He really like the second hour where they talked about the Old Testament. That was the week basically. We were able to watch the President Nelson devotional which was good. All I've got to say though is that the mission is physically and mentally tough

Bye.
