Well I'm here again

Tuesday. It was a hot one. We went to district council and afterwards we went to see our lonely friend Jose Antonio. Apparently he has a neighbor who might like to hear us or something. After we went to go eat with one of the bishops councilors. The food took like an hour to make so we ended up being there for 2 hours. Right after we went to visit this guy named Enrique who lived close by to where we were eating. He's a nice guy but like soo many here, he just talks and doesn't stop. The food was still sitting pretty good in us and it was really warm in his house and as he droned on it was a fight to keep the eyes open. I think my companion literally fell asleep. Later that night we were able to visit a family of inactives. They sell hamburgers. They basically told us that it's IMPOSSIBLE to go to church ever cause they're too busy in every moment of everyday.

Wednesday morning some inactive "member" who we once met in the street sent us a whole bunch of drunk voice messages. He sent like 10 minutes of audio saying that we suck and we don't know anything and he hates us foreigners and then said he was gonna burn his book of mormon and stuff. Then he randomly started saying we owed him a lot of money. He was crazy and drunk and luckily he doesn't live in our area. We went to visit a lady who recently had surgery on her womb or something and she can't move for a month after we visited an inactive member close by. Her boyfriend who lives there was present. We taught them and the guy wasn't a member. He was was one of those guys who gets all caught up on proxy baptisms and stuff for some reason and has no idea why we do it. Later we went to the church and the girl we baptized last Sunday was there and she wanted us to teach her boyfriend. Sigh. Her boyfriends someone who believes God is nothing more than "an energy" and he doesn't believe in Jesus. We presented the book of Mormon and then asked him what questions he had. That was a mistake. He started asking a whole bunch of questions about the the nature of God and about Adam and eve and stuff. Just questions to get us confused and all that. We had a member with us. His name is Omar. He's a cool guy but I think he's a convert from the Jehovah’s witnesses or something and before he joined the church he studied a ton of deep doctrine. So at this point Omar (I think getting a bit excited over the deep dive into the gospel) stands up and is all ready to answer all the questions. He ends up going into a rant about the blood of Adam and eve (I don't even think it's official church doctrine anymore) and reading from the book of Abraham and talking about "the son of the morning". He drew an extremely complex diagram on the whiteboard at the church about the plan of salvation and all that too. It's all fine I suppose but the guy we were teaching (named Max) wasn't asking the questions to learn but rather to confuse and deny organized religion and stuff. There's just no point in teaching ANYONE that way much less someone who needs to develop a testimony of Jesus Christ first.

Thursday after we went to go eat, we were talking to the lady who gave us food. She said she had a sister in an apartment building close by who we could go and visit. We walked over to the apartment building and knocked on the door of the referral. She didn't answer. We were already there so I told my companion that we were gonna knock all the doors in the building. We started from the top. Almost no one answered. One lady answered and showed mild interest and said we could come back on Wednesday. That was cool. The next door we knocked and someone came to the door. She opened it, saw us, screamed in terror "LOS TESTIGOS!" (Jehovah’s witnesses) and slammed the door. I decided to knock again to explain were definitely not the testigos but some guy just yelled at us to go away. We spent the rest of the day visiting a bunch of inactives. They’re always very nice and hospitable but they always have encyclopedias of excuses of why they can't go back to church. They're nice though and I suppose it just requires patience.

On Friday morning we went to visit Jose Antonio again. We wanted to see if he'd been able to contact his neighbor and tell her about the missionaries but the neighbor wasn't home. We talked to him for a while though and shared a message. He's a pretty lonely guy. Walking back from the lesson we saw a guy we had contacted in the street almost 2 transfers ago. He was just sitting on a bench so we asked if we could share a message with him. We talked about the book of Mormon and and the end he gave us his address to be able to visit him on Sunday. His names Antonio.  We had a lesson with Enrique and Miriam who are closer to baptism than just about anyone I've ever met but they still haven’t been able to get married. We always have super good lessons with them. Later that night we went to go see an old guy we met in the street once named David. He wasn't home.

On Saturday morning we went to go visit a reference from some other elders. These references were fantastic people. They had almost all the lessons and had been to church 3 times. Their mom lives in another area and got baptized about a month ago. She was a super good person. As we were teaching them we kinda just knew that these people are gonna be really good converts. They just, sadly, need to get married first. On the walk back to the church there was some place just giving out free tacos so that was cool. Later we went to eat and after we met a guy who was a referral from someone we've been teaching. We've been receiving a lot of those lately for some reason. We helped out the other elders with their baptism cause almost no one from their ward came.

On Sunday a cool guy named Cesar came to church. He's a very large man who drives a combi. During the second hour we pulled him aside to teach him a lesson. He talks a ton. The lesson lasted longer than than the second hour of church. It was a good lesson though and the guy has a lot of potential. Later that night we went to find the Antonio guy we talked to on bench on Friday. We thought we found his house but no one came to the door. We ended up knocking almost 10 more looking for the guy and not a single person came to the door. Man. So that was my week. The mission is a great experience but there are a lot of growing pains. It's worth it though.

Anyways bye.

Looking through the gallery I realize I don't have pictures this week
