A 'nice' old lady

So. This week wasn't the most exciting in the terms of anything but this is what happened:

On Tuesday were went to district council and all that, we went to go eat. Later we went to go see this guy were teaching named Enrique. (Were literally teaching like 3 people with that name I have no clue why) he's a nice guy but he's one of the MANY that just talk and talk and talk. He talks about a lot of uncomfortable topics as well and its difficult to just sit there and listen to him. Plus he doesn't really want to go to church. He reads the book of Mormon though. We'll try to have one more lesson this week to see if we can get him to budge but if not it's probably adios. Later we had to go to the Stake Center to teach a guy named William. He's someone the sisters are teaching but dude to unfortunate/uncomfortable circumstances were teaching him now. He's a nice guy I suppose but has some commandment problems. Also trying to teach a lesson with 4 missionaries is hard.

On Wednesday morning we went over to see a guy named Enrique. He's a taxi driver and a reference from other missionaries. He's a very sincere guy and wants to learn and we want to help him but also he was talking about weird visions and dreams he had while under the influence of drugs or something  and how in those moments he knew God existed and weird stuff like that. Also when we left I noticed he had a plate of Marijuana on his table. We went to go see a less active guy named Emmanuel after. That guy's pretty nice. After we ate we went to go find some people we had knocked the door of a week prior. No one was home. We visited some more people. And went home

Thursday were interviews with President. It's weird to think that guy is about to leave  at the end of this month our new one will arrive. Later in the day we went to see thus guy named hermano Duran. He's a guy who joined the church in 1981 and was active for many years and had a ton of callings like elders quorum president and bishopric councilor and entered the temple and all that but went inactive years ago I guess  for word of wisdom problems (?) I really wasn't too clear on his reason. No one in the ward knows him cause he hasn't gone in so many years but it sounds like he'll probably return soon. He just talks FOREVER. he's like blind Jesus from my last area (this guy can see though) we were there like and hour and a half. We were so late for our next lesson and we only could share a 5 minute message. We went to the Stake Center again to go teach William. This time it was just me and my companion teaching him and the lesson was a lot smoother. Apparently the sisters were getting him ready to be baptized like 2 weeks ago but talking to the commandments with the guy, I have no idea how.

Friday we had exchanges with the Zone leaders. We started them super late. I was working with Elder Stabler. He's some dude from Arizona. I'd gone on exchanges with him before. He's a cool guy but he's got a super fiery personality and he's not afraid to tell someone what he thinks. We really couldn't get much done cause literally the food "hour" took like 2 hours and after that we went with hermano Duran again. He talked a while but Elder Stabler hates long lessons (like we all do) so he kept interrupting the guy and doing everything he could to end the lesson early. We briefly went to the church to 'use the facilities' and Magali was there. She's the girl we baptized like 2 weeks ago. She had to talk to the bishop and we won't be able to confirm her for at least a month (my sad but honest guess is that it'll be longer or *gulp* never) later we visited this guy named Edrei. He's another inactive guy but he's super cool. He's also super smart and every time we go to his house he's there studying the scriptures or come follow me or something. We went out looking for more people to end the day and we found a part member family. They were running a store and like a lot of the less actives they didn't show much interest. Also there was like 10 drunk guys standing super close by so our visit was pretty brief.

Saturday we had a lesson with Alvaro. He's a guy we hadn't been able to contact for a month. He came to church a while ago but we had lost contact with him. He's a good guy. He's one of those who loves the Bible. A lot of times those guys can get on the nerves but Alvaro was actually reading some verses from the Bible about the influence of the Holy Ghost in our lives that actually got me thinking pretty good. I now don't remember the scripture references sadly. We had a lesson with Enrique and Miriam. They're getting sooo dang close to the baptism. They're gonna go check on Wednesday about the marriage situation.

Sunday. Well Sunday didn't start out great. This is where the title of the letter comes in. We were standing up front greeting the members as they came out my companion was outside and some lady (hermana Aguila to be specific) saw my comp but not me and asked him "did they finally change your companion?" My companion jokingly responded "yes" (I'm not sure why) and then the lady was acting so happy that they finally changed me and stuff. I have no clue why and I was trying think of all the reasons why this senile old woman would hate me. I couldn't think of anything. I know I shouldn’t let it bother me. Half of this lady's family is involved in the big stake pyramid scheme and she and her husband think they shouldn't have to help the ward in anything because "they already did" for so many years. She's also one of those flabby armed ladies always bragging about how like one of her kids is a Bishop or a Stake President or something. Anyway. I really should stop ranting about this lady. Church started (on time which is always a surprise) and there was NO ONE there. It looked and felt like less than 20 people. They asked us to help pass the sacrament and in total it took less then 10 minutes. At least Enrique and Miriam came. After the church we had to buy food cause no members had signed up to feed us. We bought some hamburgers (under the law of Moses I should be dead by now) but we were able to contact the delivery guy so that was cool. Later we went to recursos with Sergio and we met this super cool family. They don't go to church because they run a store outside their house but they were super nice. They gave us popcorn and chips and a lot of coke (a cola) they were super cool. We're ‘gunna visit them again this week to share more of a formal message.

Anyways thats it from me. See ya.
