Elder Adrian Ochoa

Another week down. I honestly wasn't gonna write this week but I decided to jot down a few notes from the week.

On Tuesday we were able to go to help a political guy move his furniture to moving van. He's not a member (his wife is) but he's a super cool guy and after he bought us large Carnitas. Literally one taco felt like it had like 2 pounds of meat on it. We were also able to visit Vanessa and her grandma. Vanessa hasn't drunken coffee so we go to baptize this Saturday.

Wednesday not a lot happened. I remember walking a lot though (which I probably need, this areas plumping me up a bit again)

Thursday we had half a day. We went to see Vanessa, Moroni, and the family with the kids we baptized a week ago. That evening we had to go to Tula. Tula’s about 1 and-a-half hours away in bus. We then had to walk a large distance. We had to go to spend the night with the zone leaders to leave for the mission offices early the next morning. We ended up choosing the wrong path. It was a dirt road and we reached this place where there were pure homes made of basically 2x4s and blankets. We felt nervous walking through the colony and as we approached two shady looking dudes we contemplated turning back. We walked through though and made it to our destination. The zone leaders told us later to not go through there cause apparently the members have told them they've "killed people there". Oh well. I suppose we won't walk through there again.

Friday we got up early and hopped on a combi with the rest of the zone to go to a mission conference. Elder Adrian Ochoa of the 70 and his wife came to the mission to speak to us. It was a good conference with good words from him and his wife and president Holtom and his wife. 70s are pretty intense. His wife was really nice though. And elder Ochoa shared a really good testimony. We left at about 1 or 2ish (I don't remember) but with a long combi and then bus ride we didn't get back home until about 7.

Saturday we had a lesson with Carlos (a member) and his girlfriend Diana. They both have a ton of potential. We also bought a torta for 90 pesos. Spending so much for a torta we thought it would be huge. We were quite disappointed at the amount of torta we actually got. It's safe to say "Hamburguesas Davids" will not be a place we return to. Anyways with that important detail of the way.

On Sunday evening we went to go meet a new guy named Isidro. He was a guy who talked to us on a bus. Good guy with very interesting questions. He asked a good question about why the people in Mexico never had prophets or anything so we presented the Book of Mormon. The only thing was that he started talking about that Mary never had any kids. The member, Adan, who we were with opened the Bible and showed Isidro the verse in Mark that talks about Jesus' brothers and Mary's kids. Isidro said that they're not actually Mary's kids and said he had other scriptures to back it up and Adan said he was confused and that he didn't understand the scriptures. I was afraid Isidro was gonna kick us out but he agreed to meet with us again next Sunday.

Anyway. Some brief words from the smorgasbord of Jacob's mission experience. Bye.
