A Shortie
So hello! I’m here to jot down some notes on the week!
On Monday evening, there was a funeral at the church. The Bishop asked me to play the piano at it so we went. I only ended up playing the prelude music, but the funeral didn’t even start until 8:30 pm, and so it ended at like 10 and we got home at like 10:30.
Tuesday started out hard. Going to district council is never necessarily the funnest activity, and it’s always dang hot after leaving, however, the day ended up being pretty cool. That evening, we were in a part of our area called “Vista Hermosa” it has a lot of hills. We were looking for some family that some other elders had referred us. The only information we had was the street name, and we knew that the door was blue and it was on the corner, we knocked a few blue doors and none of them were of the family. We were almost at the top of the large hill, and there was one more blue door. It wasn’t even on a corner, but we decided to knock it anyway. No one came to the door, but a woman came up from behind and indicated that it was her house. We started talking to her, and it turns out that she’s an inactive member who hasn’t been to church in years. It was pretty cool to find her and were gonna go back this week to see if we can teach her. After that, we kinda were walking through a part of the area that were not in all that much. While walking through, I remembered a lady who wed been talking to on the phone a while back, named Ana Bertha. We called her and she answered, but it turned out she lived about 20 minutes away from where we thought she lived. We went anyway. It was a sketchy part of the area I’d never been in before, but we found Ana Bertha. Her son is in jail but he really wants a book of mormon so we gave her a copy to give to him and her own copy. It was cool.
Dang I’m running out of time to write this. Im gonna be quick with the rest.
Wednesday we made tamales. On February 2nd everyone makes tamales here to celebrate these porcelain baby Jesus dolls they all carry around. Im not too sure on how those traditions go together, but tamales are good. It was our first time making them, so they didn't necessarily turn out beautifully, but they tasted good. Also the sister we made them with is nice.
Thursday. We tried making visits with the elders quorum president, president Francisco. He’s great, if he learned how to give talks in english, he could be a 70 or something. We also visited our friend Jorge.
To end the week, we had English class. It’s always fun and various people always come. Armando, the schizophrenic guy who always sends us text messages, brother Moises who’s awesome, Ivan, a street contact from a while back, and a family we met in a store who’s son, Gabriel has a lot of potential to get baptized. So it was cool.
On Sunday this Gabriel kid came to church, he came fasting which was really cool to see cause he’s 15 and had no idea it was fast Sunday in our church. Another lady named Carmina came. She’s a family member of a member who has a lot of questions but is really nice. Anyway, sorry for a shortie. Bye!!
